THE TOUR AROUND SPAIN by Rafa Carrillo (2A) I went to the tour of Spain for three consecutive years, last year was the last. To go, I had to do a writing test and a driving test. Although in the first I had 10 out of 10, the second was the funniest of both, because I had to drive my official motorbike like in a race circuit, it was fantastic! Before, I made an ability driving test too, like when you want to get your driving license, as a matter of fact it was the most difficult test of all, so if I hadn’t practiced before that then I wouldn’t have passed the test. When my boss said to me that I could go, then I was the happiest man in the world, because it was a dream for me since I was a child. During the three years that it took place I went around Spain seeing wonderful places, such as Andorra, Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias, etc, and fantastic sights like Covadonga’s Lakes, the Ball of the Word, the Port of L’Angliru (which was the hardest port for the cyclers that I’ve ever seen), and many other places. Also I met famous cyclers, like Miguel Indurain, Fernando Escartín, Abraham Olano or Perico Delgado, whom I took some photos of. My main mission was giving protection to the cyclers on the race, because it usually takes place with open traffic, so we had to stop all vehicles that go the opposite way of circulation. We stayed in expensive hotels, which were paid for the organization, and although we earned a lot of money we worked a lot, more or less for twelve or thirteen hours a day, or even more. Last year I finished about 7500 kilometers by motorbike. Even though we arrived to the hotel very tired, we sometimes went out to have some beers at night, but not till very late, because next day we had to get up early. It has been the best experience I’ve ever had. If I could then I would go again, but each policeman can only go up to three years in a row.
JOBS by Elisa (2º CAL)
Have you ever worked in a cafeteria bar? I´ve worked in a cafeteria, its name is "world´s coffee"·. I was a waitress three years ago. Moreover, I taught some children in my free time. However, I am working as a teacher now and in my free time I´m learning English. Likewise, I would like to be a dancer. So If I learn to dance I will be a good dancer. In my opinion dancing is as hard as teaching. Therefore, If I had more time I would learn to dance because I love dancing. I think everybody should dance because when you dance you forget your problems so If you dance you will enjoy vey much but if you didn´t ever listen to music you wouldn´t dance very well.
MY WORK
I work in the solar power station, “Andasol 3”, which is in front of the villaje of La Calahorra. If you drive from Guadix to Almería, you will see it, as well as the other solar power stations, “Andasol 1” and “Andasol 2”. Furthermore, there one many windmills which produce electricy. They startedto build this station in September 2009 until today, however the plant was inagurated last year, in September, at present, the station isn´t finished.I started to work there in September of 2010, when the company “Alhambra Ambulances” called me to ask me if I wanted to work with them as a nurse; of course, I said: Yes. The first time, when I went to “Andasol 3”, I thought: “It will be the rarest place that I´ve worked in or ever going to work in”. Nowadays, there are working few people (100 – 150) working.Ten months ago, there were working almost 800 persons. Two buses came here every morning for bring many workers, and the “Sierra Snack" built a restaurant next to it.We have the ambulance and two rooms in the station: the sickroom and the living room, where the ambulance´s driver and me stay. This photo was taken in summer with the station´s security personal. C. Gómez (2A)
EL PILAR´S DAY by Rafael Carrillo
My favourite day of the year is October 12th, because it’s the “day of the Hispanidad”, also the "Guardia Civil" celebrates its Patron Saint, the Virgin of Pilar. It’s my wife’s patron saint day too.I always get up early and get fritters to have breakfast with my family. After breakfast I get dressed with my gala uniform. Then I go to meet my colleagues early because I don’t like to be late. At 11´45 a. m. all together we parade up to the cathedral, there we listen to mass at noon. As a matter of fact I have never missed a mass for 40 years. Afterwards about 1´30 p.m. we always have a small lunch with people invited by us in a good expensive restaurant where we eat. Later, we usually have a coffee and lot of cakes. In the evening we invite friends to dinner at the police station. We eat charcoal-grilled meat. After dinner, we see a show of fireworks. Finally people usually dance and go to bed quite late. It’s one of the best days of the year since I was a child. I’m sure if my father hadn’t been a policeman I wouldn’t have liked it. All in all, for me it’s as much fun as Christmas’ Day.
MY WORK Noelia (2C)
My first work is in a school canteen. There are seventy-five children. Children here are different ages from 3 to 12. I put the dishes on the table and I give the food to little children with my other co_workers. There are five people working in this school canteen. I clean the living room too. My second job is in a Pizza Resturant at the weekend. I do different things there: I answer the phone, I serve the customes, I do pizzas, baguettes and hamburgers. I sometimes take the food to my client´s houses.I don´t work more because I work few hours. If I worked more hours, I would have more money.
My first jobby Lorena Torres
I studied Administration and Finances so when I finished the course I did some tests to get a bank scholarship. The tests were very difficult. I have never been so nervous! I did it!! On my first day at work, my boss told me: "Everything has a solution unless you put your hands in the drawer".
I engaged to learn everything about the office. I started at seven o´clock in the morning and I ended at three o´clock in the afternoon. Then I thought that was the worst job I have ever found. It was very difficult. I had to count a lot of money, I transferred money, I wrote checks, I negotiated letters…
When I finished the scholarship I changed my opinion, this job was the most interesting job in the world. Fifteen days after, the bank called me back. I got my first employment contract. My co-workers helped me very much. I was happier than when I got the scholarship. After some months I was working with loans, mortgages, insurances…If you had some money I could help you make a good investment.

I work in a travel agency, and I've been working there for five years. From my point of view, it is a beautiful job, because I help people to choose their holidays, but this is specially difficult when the clients are honeymooners, because if they had enough time and money, they would probably visit the whole world!!
The worst thing in my job is Summer, because I work a lot of hours, so I usually spend more time with my co-workers than with my family, therefore I hate Summer and I love Winter!!
One of my co-workers is my boss, who is also my uncle and the wisest person in the office, because he has worked as a travel agent since 1992, so he knows a lot of things. He also loves travelling, accordingly he can give you a lot of information from many different countries, cities and places; if you like travelling, you should talk with my boss!!
